What to do after your daily dose of skiing? - We discover the top four locations for this year's Après ski experience. From French ski resorts, to Austrian, Italian and Swiss Alps

Après ski comes from »after ski« in French. It describes all the social activities that come after a day of alpine skiing. While the lates is both a social and an independent activity, après ski is all about socializing. It covers many aspects of this mountain lifestyle, including local food, drinks, bars, parties, fashion and spa. Not all ski resorts handle this as a separate lifestyle to alpine skiing. We have come up with a list of 4 Alpine destinations that will not let you down.

4th place:         St. Anton, Austria

Who says you cannot have both – alpine and après – on higher level? This Austrian resort has it both. With 94 lifts and more than 640km of ski slopes, it is one of the biggest in the Alps. It is also perfect for off-piste conditions, which attracts many professional freeride skiers from across the world.

Parties in bars start already at 3pm, when national music enriches the atmosphere. Local bar MooserWirt is known as the mother of all après ski bars, so going there is a must. Appart from drinks, it also serves national food. If you prefer a steakhouse, then go to Galzig Bistrobar.

3rd place:         Verbier, Switzerland

The country is known for its higher prices, but in case of après skiing, it can be justified. Verbier is known to have some of Swiss' best freeride slopes. Groomed pists are 412 long, with the highest vertical drop of 2000m.

For those that want to spend their night life in class. Happy hours are usually from 3pm to 4pm. Local Pub Mont Fort is known after burgers and live music. If you prefer coctails, make sure to check out Farinet Lounge. For higher end parties, with diamons added to coctails, check out the elite Coco.

2nd place:         Chamonix, France

Great location on the crossroads of France, Italy and Switzerland makes it a popular international ski area. It is composed of ten ski resorts, that are connected as one - Chamonix-Mont-Blanc.

Full of energy even after the daily skiing, you can chose among many restaurants and bars. Great atmosphere is every day at Chambre 9, with live music playing until 7pm. From culinaric local kitchen in La Remise, to american brew pub Poco Loco, you can find it all.

1st place:          Livigno, Italy

The best party ski resort, also refered to as »tax free party haven«. Great value for money is what attracts most of the skiers. Also great food and drinks will surely leave a good memory. Quiet and lounder places can be found, so all needs are covered.

More than 150 bars in the area give you a difficult decision where to go. One of the most popular bars is The Baita Del Ghet, which gives every customer first drink free. It is locals' number one bar. Locals are always right.
