The Omo Tribe
This collection is focused to combine art with functionallity whereas my inspiration originates from the tribes of the Omo Valley, border of Ethiopia, Kenya and Sudan.
These nomad people have no architecture or crafts with which to express their innate artistic sense. Instead, they use their bodies as canvases, painting unique arts on their skin with pigments made from powdered volcanic rock and adorning themselves with materials obtained from the world around them, such as flowers, leaves, grasses, shells and animal horns.
Endlessly inventive, magical, fun and natural
This art is endlessly inventive, magical, fun and natural. We saw the opportunity to give a touch of their sense in arts displaying it through our collection as well as giving awareness of the unique inhabitants of this world.
The Omo Valley is also home to fascinating rites and traditions that have survived for thousands of years in this unexplored region.
Each culture is unique. More isolated, more different.
The unknown we discover, protect and preserve.
The unknown ancient past is deep in our memory.
Our eyes and mind are comfortable, as they are reminded -by design- on our past.
Living on a planet overflown by diversity, we have to listen and learn. Sometimes the old civilisations and cultures have a deeper belief, have a more simple and dedicated understanding. The diversity is expressed by harmony of colors.
It's mystical that some of the ancient cultures survived. Their existance is precious for the understanding who we are, how we became and what we are.
We should never change
The ancient cultures have a better and deeper understanding of what and who we are. This is better understood by them. They dedicate their time to life and respect.
